Synopsis



Patrice lumumba, hero of Congolese independence, was not thirty years old when the first jolts of botched decolonization propelled him to the forefront of the international political scene. At the head of the Congolese National Movement, he won the first elections in independent Congo. But the principles of honesty and equality of lumumba are not unanimously accepted. very quickly, it disturbs Congolese politicians eager for power, Belgian settlers who refuse any change and world powers concerned about the sharing of Congo's wealth. two days after the independence celebrations, lumumba has to face a mutiny, eight days later, Katanga secedes. lumumba fights, alone, he travels all over the country to reassure the crowds, refuses any concession. Victim of betrayals, plots, manipulations, he was assassinated on January 17 1961, as well as two of his companions
